Zagreb Celebrates Books at World Literature Festival

The forth edition of World Literature festival (Festival svjetske knjiženosti) has opened this Sunday, September 4th, with a lecture from one of the most important contemporary writers today, Claudio Magris. Magris is not the only Italian writer to grace Zagreb with his presence these days. This year’s focus of the festival is Italian literature and with guests like Antonio Pennacchi (winner of the prestigious Italian Strega award), the rising star Paolo Cognetti, biggest explorer of the works and life of Umberto Eco, professor Ugo Vodi, comic book star Zerocalcare, writer and filmmaker Giorgio Pressburger

Aside from the focus on Italian writers, the festival will host novelists, essayists and writers from 15 countries around the world that will present themselves in a series of talks, round table discussions and programs like Disclosure, A writer and his reader and a new installment Double portrait where a local writer and a guest will talk about literature.
