Stephen Hawking, the World Renowned Theoretical Physicist Dies at the Age of 76

“Life would be tragic if it weren’t funny.”, said Stephen William Hawking once, and today marks not the most happy day but a Pi Day nevertheless – so ha-Pi day Stephen, your life inspired many and your work contributed humanity greatly, your presence shall be missed.

Stephen Hawking was a British theoretical physicist and cosmologist, an explorer who set out on a journey of understanding the universe. His efforts have yielded numerous theses related to the theory of black holes and cosmology. Hawking’s work was the first to combine the theory of general relativity and quantum mechanics, thus making a step forward toward a more unified theory. In his later studies, he showed disbelief towards the existence of such unified theory.

The renowned scientist did not only contribute to science directly with his work, but he also encouraged others and worked towards making science more mainstream by embracing the popular culture. He wrote numerous books with the most popular one being A Brief History of Time and appeared in popular tv shows like Futurama, The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory and Star Trek.

Stephen Hawking was a figure whose voice will echo through generations to come. Rest in peace Stephen.
