Sports Educational Project ‘Active Croatia’: Hundreds of Participants Exercised at Main Square

All generations filled Zagreb’s Ban Josip Jelačić Square at the final training of the sports education project Active Croatia. More than 500 trainees have responded to a project under the patronage of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

The expert team from the Faculty of Kinesiology under the leadership of Ivan Antunović led a 50-minute training, while Renata Sopek led the program and animated the trainees. It was preceded by an attractive demonstration of soldiers of the Croatian Armed Forces-Defense Battalion led by Sergeant Dalibor Delić. Children from kindergarten Jarun, judo school Zagreb and sliding club Medo also demonstrated their sports knowledge.

“Croatia has once again shown that it is aware of the importance of physical activity on health. For the past five years, Active Croatia promotes activity and we can already talk about the movement that definitely activated Croatia. I sincerely hope that those who decide on the future of our country will make decisions that will make body activity one of the priorities when talking about health prevention. This action has also shown that there is no limitation on age, sex, material status in the activity, and it may be appropriate for everyone who makes such a decision. With this project we will continue, although we have gathered more than 25 thousand practitioners so far, the target is 4.3 million, or Croatia as a whole, “said the dean of KIF Prof. dr. sc. Damir Knjaz.

The Active Croatia project has educated citizens in Požega, Mursko Središće, Rovinj, Vodice, Dubrovnik, Zadar and Zagreb this year. After the final training, the project moves in the sixth season. “Sixth season is already starting preparatory activities. The project, along with sporting activities, will go further in the direction of health, as this area is the most important activity for citizens in our everyday life, “said Toni Dabinovic, spokesman for the project.
