Open Square Day brings Croatian National Theater to the streets of Zagreb

Open Square Day is an event that Croatian National Theater (HNK) started last year in efforts to present high culture as approachable, exciting and entertaining. Last year’s event was closely tied to the grand reopening of the Music Academy across the street from marshal Tito square on which the theater is situated. The purpose of the event was to bring students and professionals together to promote and present their opera, ballet, classical, chamber, string and brass music sections to the general public.

Prompted by the success of last year’s event, HNK has decided to go at it again this Saturday, September 26th. This year’s partner of the event is Randez-vous festival of french culture in Croatia, and Open Square Day will be a part of their White Night (Nuit Blanche) program encompassing different aspects of culture presented on the streets of Zagreb throughout Saturday night.

Open Square Day starts at 16h with ballet lessons for children and ends at 1:30 with an open air party in front of the theater.
