Croatian Currency – Kuna

Currency in Croatia is Croatian Kuna (KN). Bank notes come in a value of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Kuna. One Kuna has 100 Lipa and coins come in a value of 1, 2 and 5 Kuna and 10, 20 and 50 Lipa. You can cash your traveller’s cheques and notes at the exchange office, at the hotel reception or make use of the banks. You can also use cash machines everywhere around the city.
The word “kuna” means “marten” in Croatian since it is based on the use of marten pelts as units of value in medieval trading. The word “lipa” means “linden tree”.
