Knight Duels on Medieval Fair in Medvedgrad Fortress

Fair maidens, brave knights, mad jesters and high noblemen will walk the medieval streets of Medvedgrad once again this Saturday, October 17th, on the annual Medieval Fair.

Medvedgrad is a medieval burg on Medvednica hills overlooking Zagreb. It was build in 1254 as a defense fortress and a treasury after the Tatars sacked Gradec and Kaptol, the two towns that would one day become Zagreb. It was a home to some lords of whom many were a bane to the gentry and peasantry below, far worse then Tatars. Many legends tell of hidden treasures beneath the burg, ghosts of evil queens and dark magic rituals. Most of them have sprouted after the fortress was abandoned in 1590, attracting adventurers and treasure hunters until it was restored in the 197os.

Visitors will be able to see a dueling knight, participate in medieval dances, feasts and performances with fire.
