Kiting, Concerts and Surfing for Global Wind Day at Jarun Lakes

Founded by EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) in 2009 as an awareness effort for wind based sustainable and renewable energy, Global Wind Day has seen an increased rise in popularity, not just in sectors that deal with or promote green energy, but among the general population and especially wind based sports, promoting different events on the day around the world.

Festival 12

The Day itself falls on June 15th, this year on Wednesday, so Zagreb’s celebration of Global Wind Day was moved a bit, on Saturday, June 18th, so more people can attend and enjoy the activities. The program will start at 2 pm at Jarun lakes with a kite building workshop and different local kiting clubs and enthusiasts presenting their kites and skills at handling them. Surf club Tri Strijele, the organizers of the event, will hold dry surfing balance challenges that can land you free surfing lessons or a free beers if you already know how to surf.

There will be other wind-based activities like surf karting , and free concerts from Miki Solus, Spleen G, Kaira Kela, Zvonimir Varga and Sisters in Roots, giving a fine balance of roots reggae, funk, accordion rap (yeah, check it, it fine), afro beats and pop.

The event is free.
