International Women’s Club Zagreb will host a traditional Christmas Bazaar this Sunday, December 6th, at Zagreb Fair (Velesajam). For the 22nd year in a row, IWCZ has set up a benefit bazaar aiming to help a specific institution, organization or association in their work. This year, all the proceedings will go to Psychiatric hospital Lopaca and Center for upbringing and education Zajezda that takes care of young children with development and mental deficiencies.
IWCZ’s Christmas Bazaar is widely recognized by now as it gathers people from 47 countries around the world, including many ambassadors who, alongside everyone else, present their country’s foods (often prepared by them), toys, souvenirs and wine. It’s good to brine a healthy appetite as you get to try home cooked meals from India, UK, Japan, Sweden, China, Canada, Korea, Georgia…with performances of different folk music and traditional wares throughout the day.
‘This year we are focused on buying gym equipment for Zajezda’s protegees as many of them are medicated and find it hard to bring themselves to do physical activities. This way we want to entice them to move and exercise. For Lopaca, we are hoping to buy medical equipment, air conditioning and other much needed elements’ said Johanna Parnis England, the president of IWCZ, inviting everyone to explore other cultures while helping those in need on the free event.
International Women’s Club is a nongovernmental, non profit organization that gathers women of different nationalities that live and work in Croatia. The club has more than 170 members from around forty countries. Their prime goal is to welcome and provide social networks to foreign women that came to live in Zagreb with heavy emphasis on humanitarian work throughout the year.

IWCZ Christmas Bazaar will be held in Pavilion 7 of Zagreb Fair, Avenija Dubrovnik 15, Sunday, December 6th, from 11 am until 4 pm and is free to attend.
