World Famous ‘Zef’ Ambassadors, Die Antwoord, to Play in Zagreb

MCs Ninja and Yolandi Visser, South African rave-rap duo Die Antwoord are finally arriving in Zagreb as a part of their 2016 European tour. Show will take place at Pavilion 9 at Zagrebački Velesajam on Monday 13th of June.

Die Antwoord were formed in 2008 in Cape Town by rappers Ninja (Waddy Jones) and Yolandi Visser (Anri du Toit) and their friend DJ Hi-Tek. We can try to define Die Antwoord’s music, but it is one of a kind combination which includes rap, hip-hop, electronic, punk rock and pop elements. Between Yolandi’s high-pitched vocals, Ninjas rap lyrics, and DJ Hi-Tek’s electronic hypnotizing beats, the use of “rap-rave” is an attempt to categorize their sound. The group released their first album “$O$” in 2008 online as a free download. This album included the single “Enter the Ninja” and their music video reached millions of views. As a result of both their album’s and video’s success, they signed with Interscope Records in 2010 and toured around the world playing at largest music festivals.

Although Die Antwoord sounds like manic rap with unintelligible lyrics and their videos look like their entire crew is on drugs, this is their unique style that helped them to stand out from the crowd. They are not only musicians but have also established new subculture – Zef, with their music, image, and heritage. Die Antwoord is not in the music industry for the fame and money, but they do it because they love their music, their movement, and their fans. In one of their interviews, MCs Ninja said: “People are unconscious, and you have to use your art as a shock machine to wake them up. You have to be futuristic and carry on. You got to be a good guide to help people get away from the dull experience.”

A just about month ago, Die Antwoord released their “Suck on This” mixtape, which is their first project since 2014’s “Donker Mag” and it is expected that freaky duo will perform new materials at the upcoming show in Zagreb.

Their performance will be a show to remember and talk about, so hurry up and get your tickets on time. They are still available on presale via Eventim or at Rockmart music store for 170 HRK while on the event, day price will reach 200 HRK. Paviljon 9 door opens at 8 pm and the concert is expected around 9 pm.
