First ‘Harry Potter Book Night’ in Croatia

For the fifth year now, hundreds of events are planned all around the world, across bookshops, libraries, schools and people’s homes in order to mark Harry Potter Book Night. This year, for the first time ever Croatia will participate in celebrating the Harry Potter books and all things Hogwarts, on the February 7, traditionally the first Thursday in February.

This year’s theme of the event is ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ and the aim is to pass on the magic of J.K. Rowling’s amazing books to the next generation of readers, as well as celebrating with devoted fans. In Zagreb, the main events, which include cosplay competition, Harry Potter quiz and interesting games and workshops, will be held at the Hoću knjigu! bookstores. The same bookstore will host events in other Croatian cities such as Rijeka, Varaždin and Split.

Harry Potter Book Night 2019 – Hoću knjigu!

“Harry Potter is not only an extremely popular book in our bookstore chain, but also one of the best-selling books in general; and throughout the year 2018, and during January, Harry Potter found itself on our TOP 10 best selling books list. Events start at about  5 pm and we will adjust the event schedule to the young people who will come to our bookstores after work as well as to the parents with children. The events for the youngest will take place in the beginning, while, as the evening moves further, other events will be reserved for those older. The highlight will surely be the quiz in our bookstore at Bogovićeva 7, to which more than two hundred people applied, although only about one hundred will be able to participate,” said marketing manager of the Hoću knjigu! bookstores Sanja Srdić Jungić.

For the whole schedule of the events all around Croatia take a look at the Facebook page of the event, and for those of you who don’t have the opportunity to visit one of the bookstores, Harry Potter Bloomsbury page prepared a special free event kit to help you celebrate.
