Exhibition ‘WHO DOES THE SCENE? – Design for Independent Music in Croatia 2011- 2018‘ opens on Tuesday, 11th of September at 7 pm at HDD Gallery in Zagreb (Gallery of Croatian Designers Association). The authors of the exhibition are Bojan Krištofić and Sven Sorić, and it will remain open until September 25th.
The exhibition focuses on the best and most representative examples of designs and illustrations for an independent music scene over the past seven years. It includes works by over 40 authors who designed posters, wrappers, promotional materials, and other items that go side by side with music.
Regardless of style and genre, poetical approach or aesthetic orientation, what unites the scene of independent music of the region of the former Yugoslavia is the fact that most musicians and their supporters (promoters, club and radio shows directors, DJs) do all the work on their own. They organize concerts and tours, build clubs, run small music labels, design posters and other items, design and organize festivals etc.
The music of independent artists can rarely be heard on domestic radio stations and the most of potential audience doesn’t know that some of these artist already have several European tours behind them.
