This week, on Thursday, Zagreb will host the finals of Davis Cup in which our national team will play with the team of Argentina. In Croatian capital, Argentina will look to win its first Davis Cup, while Croatia aims for a second triumph and a first on home soil.
According to Davis Cup.com, this weekend will be the Argentinians’ fifth appearance in the Final of the competition, which sees them join Germany, Czech Republic, and Russia at eighth place on the list of most final appearances. But unlike those nations – and the seven above them on that list – Argentina has never taken home the famous trophy.
As for Croatia, we have world No. 6 Marin Cilic… but he won’t play alone of course – Croatian team will gather Cilic, Coric, Dodig and Karlovic at the same place. So we hope, and we believe that this year’s trophy will stay in our city.
