Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic and minister of sciences, education and sports Predrag Sustar, organizers of European Universities Games, University of Zagreb reactor Damir Boras and local accomplished sports figures have gathered early morning today, March 14th, on Jarun lakes to celebrate the upcoming Games by panting 500 tree seeds representing universities that will partake in the event.
The tree seeds were donated by the City of Zagreb as part of promotional activities for the competition that takes place in July, with more than 5 000 students from 45 European countries participating.
The seeds were planted beside Veliko Jezero (The Big Lake), local’s favorite place for sports and leisure in the city. European Uniersities Games will take place on the sports fields next to it.
