The 24th Zagreb Marathon: The most popular Croatian running event is about to start

The streets of Zagreb will become the running path for thousands of runners who will participate in one of the most famous racing events in Croatia – the 24th Zagreb marathon. Same as previous years, marathon starts and ends at Ban Jelacic Square. Half marathon runners run just one lap, while marathon runners run two laps.

Registration for the marathon and half marathon are closed, but people can still apply for the citizens 5k run, but only without race timing, without a chip. If you would like to test your body, register for the 5 k run either online or on Ban Jelacic Square from 8 AM till 6 PM on Saturday, and from 7.30 AM till 9.30 AM on Sunday. You can pick up your starting number on Ban Jelacic Square at the specified time. Half marathon runners will have six refreshment stands while marathoners will have 12, with an additional drink on the finish line on Ban Jelacic Square.

The total prize money for the race is 22,000 kn – 1st place 5,000 kn, second 3,000, third 2000 kn, and for the fourth 1000 kn. The prize money for citizens race is 12,000 HRK.

For local runners, this is the key event and a very important race. Zagreb marathon is included in the world’s largest marathons list, whose results are accepted as norms for large sporting events.
